We’re so glad you’re joining us in Portugal. Here are our recommendations for getting to Braga and where to stay.
Your journey to Braga
Porto Airport (OPO) is the easiest option for the wedding—the closest major airport to Braga, with direct onward connections to the city.
Porto Airport to central Braga takes roughly an hour by car, depending on traffic. Taxis, rental cars and private transfers are options.
GET BUS runs directly between Porto Airport and Braga—a convenient option without a rental car.
Timetables & ticketsAn optional first stop
If you’d like to spend a few days exploring Lisbon before the wedding, flying into Lisbon Airport (LIS) is a great alternative. From Lisbon, head north to Porto, then continue to Braga.
CP’s Alfa Pendular and Intercidades trains connect Lisboa Oriente with Porto Campanhã in roughly 3 hours, depending on the service. Oriente is on the airport’s metro line.
Train times & ticketsFlixBus offers direct Lisbon–Porto routes. Journey times and arrival points vary by departure; the route page lists the available options.
Bus routes & ticketsA rental car gives you the flexibility to stop along the way or continue directly to Braga. The main motorway route to Porto uses the A1, with tolls along the route.
Driving routePorto → Braga: CP trains connect Porto Campanhã with Braga. If you’re traveling by car, you can continue north from Porto straight to your hotel.
Make yourself at home
We really recommend old-town Braga for convenience. You’ll be close to Braga Cathedral, where our Nuptial Mass takes place, with cafés, restaurants and beautiful streets to enjoy between celebrations.
Our wedding room block
One of our two favourite larger hotels for a convenient stay in central Braga. We have a wedding room block here—use our dedicated booking link below to reserve your stay.

Also warmly recommended · no room block
Our other top recommendation for a larger hotel in Braga’s historic centre, conveniently located for exploring old town and getting to the cathedral. We don’t have a room block here; please book directly with the hotel.
There are plenty of smaller boutique hotels and Airbnb options too. If you prefer those, we still recommend looking in the old-town area so you can enjoy Braga on foot and be conveniently located for the church.
Staying in old town is convenient for the cathedral, but the Welcome Party and reception are at separate venues outside the centre. Plan your rides to and from both in advance, especially for the late-night return.
